Roland RE-201 Space Echo

This is my probably my favourite electronic instrument after my MacBook.

The Space Echo is a tape delay comercialized in 1974. It's an machine that sculpted the sound of dub reggae and many other genres. I love it for it's tape distortion, wow and flutter, pitch shifting, warmth and self-oscillation. I once had the chance to play with it at a friends studio, however I mainly use the Universal Audio plugin version of it. Learned how to use delay with this machine. It felt a lot less intimidating than the other plugins. You only play with simple but extremely effective knobs.

The machine works with a freefloat tape design, 3 different playback heads and a spring reverb. Adjusting the tape's speed changes the delay time. It has the ability to feed the delayed sound back into the record head for multiple echo repeats. Which makes it capable of producing a unique range of echo effects.
